Blogging again for the new year. I just want to point out not all Art Williams Says and all the things about doing doesn’t’ mean that you should blindly do things, It’s not a competition in running as fast as you can in any direction.

That’s why the New Years Planning is such a huge part in achieving success.
And having a sense of direction or Purpose is the most important part of it.

So how do we get this Purpose of Sense of Direction? when you have so many ideas and thoughts and are a creative and purposeful entrepreneur?

I used to get asked a few years ago What my Big Hairy Audacious Goals ( BHAG ) was.

For years I had no idea, I really didn’t know what my BHAG was, not how to even formulate it, I was not at ease with myself for not finding this direction, I had so many ideas so many things I could achieve and I’d be good at all of them just by spending time on them, so how do you pick the industry, the type of job the inspirations you make and give to people?

Now it occurs to me I have always know the BHAG I just didn’t formulate it as a big hair audacious goal because it was so obvious, it just didn’t have to be exact! but a path to follow and a guideline not a rule. an inspiration not a dogma, a light to show me the way.

A bit like not being able to see the forest for the trees but here is how it started.

    1. I wanted to make a difference
    2. I wanted to make something I am proud of
    3. I wanted a lifestyle I could enjoy
    4. I wanted a job that was both challenging but gave me freedom to travel
    5. I wanted to be happy with work
    6. I wanted to make money in the process

I also knew people development was one of my most inspirational parts of work for me.

This was in some sense a direction and I knew that i’d reach the goals if i kept at it, and it worked.

Now I do get all of them and it’s a great achievement and sense of fulfillment, it doesn’t’ matter if you have no sense of direction if you know what you want out of it then you make the direction based on how you can achieve your goals, and if your goals are unquantifiable then make paths and inspirational paths, but you will never succeed without doing it.

What I did learn however that took me ages to see was that almost any leader role brings you to these goals if you focus on it and do it. But it doesn’t happen overnight There is no overnight success, it’s based on work work and more work.

When I first started working around 15 years ago I got the advice:

    You either work to:

    a. Make a lot of money
    b. Learn Something
    c. Have a lot of fun

or it’s time to change job.

I have followed this advice and have over the past 15 years managed to get a wide and well rounded background, in many various areas and types of Jobs and have at times had a, b, or c from a job but it’s only now I have all three and then it’s time to stay and to grow within the role.

The new year is about a big change in my personal approach to work and how we strategically get even further with the right focus.

So I still believe in doing it yesterday, keep a sense of urgency, but do keep a strong track of the direction and make sure it doesn’t just become work for works sake, but actually have a reason.

If you don’t do it it will never get done, but it’s better to direct it than to do it all yourself.

2011 is about the team and the team success.

Adding all three together in my current life has meat i have

I like what Art williams says, it’s so true, success is about doing it, and then doing it a little bit more.

there is no reason to talk about it just do it!

Do you like this way of thinking?

It’s worth to really understand this as success is so simple just do it!
